show Abstracthide AbstractThe ribosomal RNA-encoding gene (rDNA) has a characteristic genomic nature, intragenomic sequence homogeneity. We reported previously the exceptional intragenomic heterogeneity in Rhizophagus irregularis, a model arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) species. The AMF is formed by obligate symbiotic fungi of the phylum Glomeromycota and engages in symbiosis with various land plants. Plant-infected AMF spreads the hyphal network to the soil and delivers soil nutrients to the host plant. Here, we performed PacBio circular consensus sequencing (CCS), which generates accurate long-read sequences, to examine the reactivity of the heterogeneous rRNA profile against the environmental condition.
